In art history class we are studying Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec whose work I have come to really enjoy. He is the master of the poster, which in the 1890s is completely new public medium. Many of the performers in Paris at the time sought out Lautrec to create the poster to promote their shows. The posters were cheap, democratic, and posted all over the city making them accessible to anyone.
