Design Global Change is a group and class that I was part of during this past semester. We use design to have a positive impact on the world. One of our projects was a mural in a troubled part in Hartford. The mural elaborates on The Kingian Principles of Non Violence promoted by Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and is focused on principle number two – The beloved community is the frame work of the future.
In the above photo, I had a wonderful and rewarding experience of being able to talk to a young boy who lives in the area. He wants to be an artist when he grows up! I talked to him for a little bit and explained the entire process of making the mural, how we came up with the ideas, how we used computers, and how we got our design transferred to the wall. You could see his eyes lighting up as he started to see realize how we created the mural. To touch a human life like that pretty much made my week.
A huge shout out to my friends Sergio and Josh who were the designers and lead organizers of this project.
